Product Development with Responsibility
We do not report – but we take responsibility.
At OrtoDan, ESG is not a requirement, but a conscious choice. As a small player both globally and within the O&P industry, one might assume that our contribution doesn’t make a difference – but we believe the opposite. Responsibility is not a question of size. When companies act responsibly, we help create a more sustainable future and open the door to new opportunities for innovation and value creation.
Small businesses like ours are only required to disclose very little, but that doesn’t mean we have nothing to say. Quite the contrary.
We don’t believe you need to be big to take responsibility. We believe you need to be aware.
At OrtoDan, we strive to do things right. Every day. Because sustainability, responsibility, and integrity are not things you do in order to report on them – but things you do to look yourself and your customers in the eye.
Environment
Even as a smaller company, we work purposefully to reduce our climate footprint.
Transport & Supply Chain
95% of all overseas deliveries to OrtoDan arrive by sea freight rather than air freight. This greatly reduces CO₂ emissions and is one of our most important, deliberate choices.
Energy Consumption
Our facilities are heated with a ground-to-air heat pump, which reduces energy use and provides a stable, green energy source. The entire building is equipped with low-energy lighting.
Recycling & Resource Use
Local residents and institutions hand in used packaging materials to us. We reuse these boxes and fillers when shipping to our European customers.
Reuse is good use – and we mean that literally.
Social Responsibility
OrtoDan wants to make a real difference – both locally and globally.
Global Responsibility
A part of our profit goes to Plan International. We support five children on the African continent because we believe that a better future is created through children and the opportunities they get.
Local Engagement & Workplace Community
We take an active part in helping people move closer to the job market. So far, five people have completed job training or assessment programmes with us.
We currently have one flex worker and one young person in an assessment process.
Work Environment & Well-being
OrtoDan should be a place where it feels good to come to work – every day. We celebrate small and big moments, and we make room for families with children.
We follow the principle “One size fits none.” People work best in different ways, and therefore flexibility and individual consideration matter to us. OrtoDan is closed every Friday.
We know that well-being creates better performance, fewer sick days, and stronger retention – and that makes investing in the work environment a financially sustainable decision.
Governance
Good governance is the foundation for running a responsible business.
Responsible Supplier Choices
We work only with large, stable, and globally recognised suppliers who already produce for major industries. As a small company, this is a deliberate choice to help ensure proper working conditions and responsible production throughout the value chain.
